Hello Class, 

Today we are going to dig into computer organization! Specifically, we are going to:
 

  1. Review the standards for computer organization
     
  2. We will review data representation or rather,  how data is stored in a computer (page here)
     
  3. We will explore computer architecture:
     
    1. Architecture of the central processing unit (CPU)
    2. Functions of the arithmetic logic unit (ALU)
    3. Control unit (CU)
    4. Registers within the CPU
    5. Primary memory
    6. Cache memory
    7. The machine instruction cycle

 

 

Our Big idea

The big idea for today is Course orientation.

The essential questions for this topic are:

What do I need to know, understand and do to be prepared for this class?
